GuardianORSM is a "point of loss"
tool that detects the accidental disposal of surgical instrumentation in the
soiled surgical drapes at the end of a surgical procedure.
Accidental
loss and disposal of surgical instrumentation is a huge problem in healthcare
resulting in an estimated expense of $350 million plus to North American hospitals
and surgical suite providers. Global losses are estimated at $900 million
representing 15% of the total surgical instrumentation market.
GuardianORSM is patented and is the
only point of loss solution for preventing accidental disposal. The product
offers the advantages of :
* Less than a 3 month
pay-back for hospitals
* Lowers healthcare expense
* Protects the safety and
welfare of hospital staff
* Enhances education and
awareness to promoting conservation
and eliminating waste in healthcare.
* Is environmentally friendly
and a true "green" solution for
saving energy and protecting the environment.
GuardianORSM is a "Point of Loss" tool that detects
the accidental disposal of surgical instrumentation left in the soiled sterile
drapes at the end of a surgical procedure. The GuardianORSM is comprised of
a "tilt-top" plastic lid with a 13" diameter center opening. Encased
within the opening is a metal detection coil embedded in the inner ring of the
unit. The ring is encased in a potting material that prevents detection
outside the detecting ring to avoid "false positives". The detector coil
instantly detects metal as the soiled procedure drapes are passing through the
opening of the unit. By sounding an immediate alert both visually and
audibly, the surgical staff is able to proactively
retrieve the discarded instruments at the exact "Point of Loss" allowing for
their recovery and intended reuse.
GuardianORSM was founded by Bryan
Guthrie in 2009. The Company is privately held and headquartered in the
Charlotte, North Carolina metropolitan area.
